The town known as Springfield was incorporated as soon as 1838. Springfield’s long history includes being a place of significance in the Civil War, helping to give birth to the Wild West era, and being the birthplace of Route 66. There are so many more stories associated with Springfield that we couldn’t do justice in this short description.
